The animals on this page come to the Marshall Animal Clinic to be euthanized for our city pound. "There time is up." Loving animals the way we do, we cannot do this. Instead, we use donations from public and the Humane Society of Lyon County to fund spay/neuter, heartworm/FeLV tesing, vaccination and placement into new homes. Many dogs are only at the clinic for a short while until there is space for them in a twin cities rescue program. Most of the cats we are able to place locally. We are a veterianry Clinic, not a shelter so we cannot keep the animals here except for a day or two, then they must go into foster care. If you are interested in our Veterinary clinic, our Rescue, or are interested in making a donation in memory of a loved pet, please Contact Dr. Tracey Westegaard during business hours, 507-537-1537 or e-mail the clinic at foxypony1@yahoo.com

Dottie came to us from the local pound, she was in a false pregnacy and positive for heartworm disease. No rescues we talked with would take her because she wasn't spayed (and because of her breed) but we wouldn't spay her until her heartworm treatment was complete. Another reason she wasn't wanted is because dalmations have a reputaion as being aggressive. Dottie didn't get along with other dogs but showed no aggression to humans. After several months, we were able to place Dottie in a nice home out in the country. She was lucky!
Copper (dog) and Stevie (kitten) came to the clinic at differerent times but ended up in the same home. Copper is a pit bull cross and no one in our rescue network was able to take him despite his sweet, carefree disposition. He was neutered, vaccinated and placed him into two different homes, neither of which worked out unitl he finally found a home on a farm where he has plenty of room to stretch his legs. If an animal that we adopt out doesn't work in that home (for any reason) we will take them back. Steve was brought in by the pound because he was so small and very sick. His eyes were swollen shut and he could hardly breath. He also had ringworm. Fortunately, Stevie made a smooth recovery with only mild damage to his vision and now lives happily with copper and several other cats and dogs. We love you Copper and Stevie!
